The state capital of the Amazonas, Manaus is a major commercial city with a population of 1.4 million. Serving as a departure point for jungle exploration, Manaus is surrounded by lush forests and rich wildlife. The rubber boom in the late 19th and early 20th century led to the formation of Manaus today, a pulsing cosmopolitan city. In addition to the Amazonas Opera House, a luxurious and world-class establishment, complete with Italian frescos and crystal chandeliers built in 1896, Manaus was also one of the first cities in Brazil to have electricity, a sewage system, water treatment and electric streetcar service.

Itinerary and Prices

Day 1: Manaus

Pickup at the airport and transfer to your jungle lodge. View the wonderful Manaus jungle lodges that we highly recommend.
Upon arrival, you will have a chance to visit the Monkey Jungle, a rehabilitation center for primates that were rescued from illegal sales. Here you will have the opportunity to photograph a variety of these whimsical creatures.
A delicious dinner will be followed by an exciting alligator spotting tour!

Day 2: Amazon Ecopark

After breakfast, you will be taken on a guided nature hike where you will learn more about the Amazon Rainforest.
After a tasty lunch and a brief siesta, we will visit the home of local Amazonian residents (“caboclos”) with an opportunity for fishing.
Dinner will be served at the Lodge.

Day 3: Amazon Ecopark

After breakfast at the hotel, we will set sail to one of the highlights of the Amazon: "The Meeting of the Waters" where the black waters of the Negro River and the brown waters of the Solimoes River unite to form the Amazon River. There we will spot an array of exotic flora and fauna which may include the striking pink and grey freshwater dolphins.
Lunch will be served at a restaurant serving typical food from the jungle.
An optional piranha fishing trip will be held before a delightful dinner prepared by the lodge.

Day 4: Departure from Manaus

This morning you will have breakfast at the hotel followed by free time to enjoy natural pools and swimming at the river bank before you take a transfer to the Manaus airport.
